I have just purchased Dragon NaturallySpeaking.
I like new toys. I'm doing this without hands.
It's a clever little monkey.

Finding it very variable at the moment.
It's doing okay, but it's struggling picking up a Latin botanical names. I think do have to train it quite a lot.
It's quite clever the way it doesn't pick up anyone else's voice.

i might be mistaken but i think it might be a nsa spin off product,my one ignored other folk and barking ,tis similar to the bank automated response things but rather more sophisticated.

never yet found anything of this ilk that I have persevered with for about 20 years it has been just a little bit short of the mark.

you can kind of do the math, 20 years is about 1000 fold increase in power, but if you were programming a chess system it would now be able to see about 2 more moves ahead, e.g. not a lot.

I got it about 3 years ago for Uni essays etc

Not too bad to use and did save my hands and tendons until they recovered and I could revert to mainly manual keying

The biggest problem I had was like Nell's - it was not into geoarchaeology and frequently seemed to refuse to learn the 'big' words and Latin descriptions

Mind I think half of that was because I used words I generally only read and wrote - never actually spoke them out loud!
