I am looking at fat footers. What type of information would be most useful, in respect to seo, and general everypage info. Thanks.

Mandatory information required by law such as contact details and company registration number is a good place to start.

Was thinking of the social media buttons, and a short about us type thing.

Make that a page.

Footer text is best left for information repeated on most if not all pages. I would have two footers One for the home page with more detailed information and remaining pages having a simplified footer.
