Found this forum while searching for Pickled Garlic recipes and then lurked for a couple of hours reading other stuff and thought I'd join as it looks to be a really great place!

I'm currently living in Plumstead in SE London (originally from Macclesfield in Cheshire) with my wonderful fiancé but we are currently in the midst of looking for a new house in SW Cornwall as the first step into our downsizing dream.

Our goal is a smallholding in Cornwall at some point in life but it's a goal that will take alot of working towards but we're enjoying the process so far

I've just discovered chutney making, we already brew all kinds of wonderful wines, meads and beers and we're hoping to become almost completely self-sufficient at some point in life (or as much as possible given the times we life in).

Really just trying to improve our lives in any way possible... so... *waves* hello!

Bonjour, walked from Whitechapel to Plumstead once, through the Woolwich foot tunnel, VERY late at night, I seem to remember one of my mates laid down in the middle of Woolwich High St and refused to move

In a matter of days we've had newbies from Eltham and Plumstead. Is South East London becoming more sane?

Hi, by the way - are you near the Common?

Ooh - many memories of Plumstead, usually involving walking back completely ratted from Woolwich Arsenal station. To my shame I once kidnapped a cement eagle from someone's gatepost. It lived for a year in a friend's sitting room until the victim replaced it, and then we put it back on his drive.
Kids today, eh?

Was that during your Napoleonic phase?
