An outstanding gig on Saturday, best I've seen for a long time

Three blokes playing up an absolute storm. And they have an instrument made of forks!

If they come anywhere near you, sell kidneys or children or whatever to get a ticket, they are incredible!

I said that a few times, with an occasional "Aaaah" as well.

I can confidently say that Saturday was the first time a 'folk' group has reminded me of Sigur Ros

Sadly not coming anywhere vaguely near me. But I have one of their CDs and also Black Water by Kris Drever who is part of LAU. Lovely music.

Think I'll go and put Black Water on while I do some days worth of washing up - thanks for making me think of it.

Your blog reminds me that their piece 'Horizontigo' was Kris Drever's musical response to the Fens:

Sadly at the moment my iPad is refusing to play sound when I visit YouTube videos etc, so can't listen to it. However I hope to another day.
Horizontigo a great title - must tell my friend who said the flatness in my pictures made her dizzy - as in this old post from my blog:

Ah, just managed to listen to it on this link:

https://www.liverpoolphil.com/?lid=5416

Lovely piece of music - evokes sense of being out on the fen in the mist perhaps but doesn't quite relate to my experience of the sense of space and light and air!

But, like Martin in LAU, I grew up in Cambridgeshire so I'm used to it - here in Lincs it's just that bit flatter - even more dramatic - though I can see it might not be everyone's cup of tea.

Martin Green was taking the wotsit out of Kris Drever at the gig, basically saying anyone can appreciate mountains and lochs, but it takes a more discerning person to appreciate the Fens

ps - I grew up in Ely, give me huge skies and I'm happy
