I've a lot of big yellow hairy quinces on a tree. I need some to cook with for New Year. I'm leaving some on the tree, but this depends on the Weather Gods being friendly.

We store apples, in a drafty shed, or similar, wrapped in newspaper in wooden crates, don't we? Reckon this would work with quinces? They're like cannonballs anyway, but I'd like to hang on to them for a couple of months.

Other storage suggestions, please?

(And does anyone want any? Come get them...)

Monday is Quince day. Can you cope if they're just off the tree, and not yet fully ripe?

How many is A Few? I guess they're 500g each.

I can bring them to you at work, as I am passing earlier in the day.

5 or 6 would be fine. Are you going from Whitechapel to kings cross or do you have a meeting in between. Need to sort out where we're eating...

Waiting for some replies but I'm in Hammersmith and Whitechapel at some point. Stupidly I'll have the car. Soon as I know you'll know.

I don't think they will keep too long fresh either. I always process mine as soon as I can. Have already made quince jelly and brandy, and am waiting for the last ones to come down to make quince wine. Think your best bet is to make whatever it is you want for New Year and freeze it.

Maybe. Send me your postcode and I'll see if I can work it into my plans.

Yes yes yes. I know I've been before but there's lots of women in Wales I've visited. I can't remember all of them individually.

Bound to be. Exeter is now a routine stomping ground.

If your I the area or if Tahir doesn't mind a diversion on his way home I could always try quince fruit scrolls, I saw them on the trees at cressing temple many years ago but couldn't pinch any..

I think you'd have to cook them before you made scrolls, but yeah I could pop some over, still got loads of apples too.
