We're going out early morning Saturday a Cep hunting, or whatever else we find.

Started to rain mid-morning here and supposed to be about for the next day or two.

Back at the start of the year I planted a couple of logs with spores in them. Nothing from them yet, but the few dowels I chucked in the ground have started to fruit!

I thought the logs would take a while for the fungi to spread and would fruit after being shocked by the cold, so about late August then.

Not round here. All we found were some chanterelles. A few inedible and poisonous fungi growing that we often see at the same time as ceps so they may not be far off.

The good news is that it's true that chanterelles grow in the same spot each year.
