Mrs C and I are tossing around the idea of selling our house and then renting somewhere in the south west.

Now this idea is just in it's easly stages but we'd like some ideas of places to look at. We have two children 19 and 10. Now the 19 year old is in Uni and he'll come home from time to time but we'd like somewhere with a good school. Somerset and Devon are the counties we are thinkg of.

Any help and ideas very much appreciated.

Thanks.

Well because of my job I think I may still be able to work for the company that I do at the moment but of course I'd need to speak to my boss at some point. Mrs C said she would just be happy to do shop/supermarket work.

Somerset is a bit overpopulated, Devon house prices are quite high especially if you want something out of town, do your research!!

I'm on the Quantocks, it's very nice; off the edge of Exmoor. Kingsmead School in Wiveliscombe is the local one for the area and has a good reputation. I think it specialises in languages.

ETA:-Okehampton College is in the top 10

sounds like you need a holiday and a good look around locations you are thinking about, we are looking at moving to S Wales next year and have a week book there in June to look around, and will visit and stay as much as poss over the next 18 months before we take the final plunge

Thanks all

I'm sure if I offer to take Mrs C away for a week cruising round Somerset and Devon, she'll be quite happy with that.

We've stayed in Oakhampton a few years ago and it was lovely. I also spent summer holidays in Combe Raleigh/Honiton as a child and it's lovely round there as well.

Sound advice but remember there is a big difference in Holidaying somewhere and living there. When we relocated to Spain we spent as much time here as possible to make sure we chose the right area for our needs. Good luck in your search....
