Did anyone see this on BBC3 earlier this week?

Good to see this sort of thing championed but it was a slightly weird programme, all artificial pressure and the winner made a viking longboat out of pork!

Maybe there should be a young downsizer of the year?

I thought it was great, not enough time spent on each section, but how wide is the appeal?

Nice to see people showing real skills.

I learned a few things, not least how long things can take. I thought the first exercise where they had 45 minutes to prepare some cuts sounded like plenty of time.

Bit surreal, but it was definitely an eyecatching display. I thought the Scots fella was a great butcher, shame his sausage was rubbish.

Was annoyed by the format but the content made a change.

It took me the best part of a day to do that

That was an eye opener, I had to laugh at the shot where that beef quarter dwarfed even the bigger lads getting it off the truck and then they didn't show the last two, I think they needed help to lift the thing!

Well that explains it, a viking longboat out of lamb makes much more sense! (I think you're right now I think about it)

Yeah, enjoyed it. Wonder how thye picked the topcis for the series? Butcher, chef, mechanic, hairdresser. Eclectic mix.

Wonder how many people will be eating Viking longboat for Sunday lunch this week.

thought it was a good programme that did well to show p[eople where food comes from. i enjoyed the butcher profiles, and liked that several kept their own stock. i did feel that it was overly dramatic, and as has been said full of artifical pressure. i did write to the beeb and tell them my comments. hopefully we will see more food/meat programmes in future. i think it is important that we speak to the beeb, as after all, it is out licence fee.
