For home use does anyone know if the main packages (Norton etc) can be installed on more than one home PC? You tend to pay yearly subsription so thought this wouldn't be a problem.

Read the licence per product but Norton is one licence per machine. Can't think of anyone off hand that offers any open agreement. Sophos offer enterprise customers work and home useage whilst the person is an employee.

Thanks for that. I'll have to install it on the main e-mail PC and schedule some network scans if that's posible.

Use AVG free on one and Norton on the other and then scan across if necessary.

Yep, I currently use AVG on everything.

I noticed today you can get Norton Internet Security thingy free with a motherboard. May be worth me looking into that...

If you've not got Norton yet then I'd recommend don't. Try www.kaspersky.com.
Only drawback is that it can only update once an hour (I like every 15 mins)

It's not my choice to get Norton. I know some people have trouble installing it, is there any specific tips or should it be ok for someone with a reasonable amount of IT knowledge?

I use BT broadband and their own Antivirus ( etrust) I have three computers sharing the line. I asked the very nice man at bt if I could install the AV on the other two macines but was told that they don't do a cheap add on and I should pay the same amount for each one - however, he said, if you try and download it on each machine NOW, I think you will be able to do it with the one licence, I could almost hear him winking at me over the phone, so I tried it and yes, it worked.

Bye the bye, one machine had been used for about three days without any av programme and when I installed this it found 6, yes SIX viruses on it and it is a new machine!!!!!

Surely we're all accessories after the fact or something now.

You'd think the love of a good woman would have kept him away from that kind of thing. Sob.
