foraged then in the crock on tomatoes and parsley for 7 days then starved for 3 days
salted
resalted
seriously rinsed
boiled in wine/water /herbs
add butter and garlic cook another 10 mins
uncurl from shell with pointy thing

Are these just common (very common ) or garden brown snails?

i thought about trying garden snails but haven't plucked up the courage to do so

I'm afraid there would be anarchy amongst our hens if we started eating the snails instead of chucking them in the chicken run for the girls to fight over...

I have to admit that the thought of eating even the gourmet variety leaves me queasy!

It has to be said, though, that the best way of getting rid of something (in the garden) is to find a use for it in the kitchen.
My Grandfather heard that dandelion leaves could be eaten like endive if you blanched them for a while first. So, he went round the lawn putting upturned flower pots on all the dandelions. He never found out if they were really edible, but he did get a dandelion free lawn!
