Well, I'm sure if you were ever looking for customers, you would find some - I think you have done a good job there, nora! |

Thanks Gertie I have thought of making them to sell, but although they are not difficult to make they do take a while so its not something I could do on a very big scale at the moment. Also, I have really enjoyed making these and wouldn't want to get fed up with it. I shall make a few when I have time and then maybe think of selling some when I have a supply of them built up. I am happy to tell other people how to make them though. |

Good point, Nora. Many years ago, my mum once made herself a blouse, got asked by friends to make them one, then their friends were asking for one, my mum ended up making over 80 blouses for people - thank goodness they were all different colours (can you imagine them all on a night out wearing the same blouse!!!).
She vowed never to make another one! |

Hi Nettie. Bugs suggested that this morning so i'm going to give it a go. I've made one today and taken pictures along the way, but whether or not I can make it into an article remains to be seen!!! |

looks really good nora. I'll look forward to an article. For hygiene reasons what sort of temperature should you wash them at? Without melting the waterproof layer! |

I was imagining it would have to be much hotter like nappies or would that umm... set the stain as it were... |

I can't imagine there is much of a hygeine issue, unless you leave them lying around to grow nasties. After all, this it what babies grow in (yeuch factor aside!)
we had a discussion on the mooncup and the article a while ago, I did say I was going to have a go, but still haven't finished the wholesale lilets!
I'd definitely be interested in making pads too, though.

I'm a massive fan of washable pads. I've been using them for years. I bought mine initially & they're still going strong, but I'll have a go at making them myself next time around. Mine are such funky colours that, when folded up, no-one has a clue what they are in my handbag! I've made a little fabric pouch for my bag which holds two.
They're a doddle to wash as they're fleece which doesn't 'hold' a stain. I don't like them lying around soaking so I give them a quick rub under a cold tap then throw them straight in the machine ready for the next load. I normally wash on 40 degrees, using the wash ball thingies rather than detergent & that cleans them fine.
I would highly recommend them to anyone who has painful periods. I get quite nasty period pains when I use tampons (alert - too much info coming up, avert eyes now... ) and I'm convinced this is because modern tampons are so super absorbant that they sort of suck on your cervix. Very scientific explanation! Anyway, since I've been using washables the pains have almost disappeared. I won't touch standard disposable pads - horrid horrid things - as I'm always aware of them being there, but washables feel completely different.
Apart from the comfort factor, the environmental and economical benefits are of course huge.
And as an added bonus, my son enjoys wearing them on his feet & skating around the kitchen floor!

And I forgot to say that yours, Nora, are fabulous!! I particularly like the edging. Really professional looking. They're far better looking than mine (though a slightly different design) which were made by a lady who sells them as a business.
My b/friend is sighing, asking me who cares what they look like as they're not something you show off ... but that's not the point

Andrea, I love your attitude towards the whole thing. Since using the mooncup, I've noticed less pain too and I'm in agreement with you over conventional bleached nasties drawing things out of you at a less than natural rate.
As the mooncup isn't 100% leakproof, and i've had to use a modest amount of panty liners on heavy days, I want to make a slimline version of what Nora's done, perhaps tapered (avert your eyes boys) so I can wear it with a thong
(Love the use of satin bias by the way Nora, was going to just overlock but yours looks so much better ) |

I notice you have poppers fitted. Is that to fix onto body piercings? |

My sister is very pleased with the pads. She has had an idea I never thought of, you could also use them as seat belt covers in your car in between normal usage!!!!! |
