Are oxen more placid and naturally more reliable in traffic compared to horses?
A nearby farmer keeps beef cattle. He has one field at the bottom of our lane, and the rest of his farm is several miles the other side of us. He did his bi-annual cattle walk a couple of weeks back - great big beef cows and their offspring briskly marching up the lane, steaming in the mist. Tucked in amongst them was the bull. All of them perfectly well behaved.
Great fun to watch the shiny tourist cars flinch. |

YES! I won't bore everyone with examples but they are many times more reliable in any kind of precarious situation. They are not prone to panic and flight. It's not a horse's fault that they are the way they are - their defence mechanism is to run away from anything that might be a danger, which as served them well over thousands of years of evolution.....it's just not so great if you're sat on one in traffic |
