It may be a brilliant axe, but sooner or later someone will be injured by one; human beings seem to have an infinite capacity for doing stupid things.
As a beginners axe, I am concerned about the need to wear gloves. This gives all the wrong messages about using tools. We have any number of half pairs of gloves knocking around in the truck because we use one on our non-working hand, but never wear one on the hand using the tool.
Must say I have never got on with a felling axe because I am ambidextrous and have never worked out which way to use it. I also have awful aim. My job is to pick up the bits when someone else has done the chopping.
Not convinced it would chop all wood. We get some lovely knotty specimens of hardwood that will only break up in a log splitter. |
It is very obvious that you haven't red the whole story from the beginning, or if you have, you haven't understood your readings. Sorry about my pure English, but please, try again.
Vipukirves/Leveraxe is the very first axe-like tool in the human history where are in build safety elements that stop the blade on top of the block. During over eight years existent there has happened NO ACCIDENT. Safety was one of the main features what I wanted to have to this invention. Friction is an other thing that is nearly fully eliminated in this invention. Leverage multiplies the slitting force many times bigger. The new splitting mechanism allows hitting to such places in the block which earlier were not reasonable because of danger. Hardwood and knotty blocks are not any problem as long as you know something about the structure of the wood. This can also be called as a beginner's Axe, because even a child can split the wood with this Axe safely. There has never been any safety elements in the conventional axes or mauls before.
That is why the number of accidents have been extremely high.
Safety has always been number one in my life because of my previous occupation, air traffic controller and pilot.
My experience in firewood splitting is during 67 years. After my retirement I invented this safe, efficient new type of splitting tool.
In fact this is not really an axe in it's historical meaning, because this functions totally differently.
I'm getting excellent feed back from all around the world.
