I just clicked on the link and Ruby went oh gosh an overlocker...

Will she accept it instead of an iplayer at Christmas though?

She doesn't want an iPlayer though, that's the Beeb's watch-again software stuff. You need to check which consumer semi-durable beginning with i she does want.

Ah yes, she was on iplayer. She wants something appley, (she thinks). I have yet to be convinced.

Well obviously. But is that A Good Thing? Would an underlocker be even more desirable? Why do people want things to be overlocked?

It stops material things from fraying by stitching over the edge...and then sometimes it cuts the edge for you too!

Not that I know how to use one

its the oversewn edging that stops things fraying along the seamline, you can neaten a seam by other means, but this is fast and easy, most modern clothes have overlocked seams
