well for us it was going to be a 10 year payback on our investment before hand, now this makes it financially not good, and we would be pushed to find the capital in the first place. the soonest we could get installation was January - so thats that.

If you had a 10 year payback quote then either they were charging to much, its a very bad site or drastically hedging their bets on the numbers or you were borrowing at a high rate. Even a simplistic calc will (sorry would have) give a max payback of 6 years not accounting for reduction in bills.. |
our figures are a bit pessimistic, and the site is not ideal. we dont have enough south roof - so are going to use that for the tubes, so the only available place left to get enough panels on is west facing.. well very slightly north west.
the fact the gov have gone back on this year's deal makes me nervous that they will stick to pay for the whole 25 years, or slip out of that one too.
I'm keen on our other plans, but i felt forced into the PV thing as being a good financial move, providing the gov stick to their side of things... and thats the bit that made me nervous.
so, as i said.. a relief now. Other poor s*ds will have signed up, paid their deposit knowing that their window to get it done was January.. and now they are stuffed. |
