I'd much rather they find a Female Timelord such as Romana who has locked up her 'timelordness' to escape the Time War and have her as her own character rather than having a woman as the Doctor just to be PC!!

Agreed.
Especially with Moffat's writing

I would hate to see a woman as the Doctor - it would just destroy the whole dynamic! It's not because a woman isn't as good as a man but that the Doctor is male.

I think that's unimaginative, I think Dr Who exists on changing its dynamic, but what would be needed is particularly strong story lines.

I really felt for Matt Smith in the last series as with the exception of the finale the story lines sucked badly. No actor can make up for rubbish scripts

I like the idea of an older actor because it should create a new dynamic, I have in my head things going off on a darker tangent perhaps with the new Doctor having to deal with the fallout of whatever John Hurt does in the anniversary episode.

The series has skirted around the issue in the past...

Answer me this - just one question, that's all. If the Doctor had never visited us, if he'd never chosen this place... on a whim... would anybody here have died?

The Doctor meddles in time and space, there are always consequences...

The Doctor is masculine in my mind - although I'm enough of a fan to have given whomever they'd chosen a go. Can't understand people judging before it's even been aired!

I shared the link below 'Malcom Tucker IS Doctor Who' on FB and one of my American relatives responded that she preferred the older series

Surely she'd be the nurse?

Hmm.
I would have to reply in the naughty corner. Suffice to say, unimpressed. Not with the cast, with the writing.

I thought it just went on for too long. BW enjoyed it though, and I suppose he's the target audience.

I wish the new series were post-watershed so Capaldi could really let rip

Nah. It's a kid's programme. No reason to change that because the actor had a sweary role in a previous job.

Spoilsport :p
How about resurrecting Torchwood for some after-hours action then?

I thought the Christmas special was better than the 50th anniversary doubrey. I was underwhelmed by the latter.

You're right. It'd make a cracking comic relief sketch, tho, no?
