******* know-it-all Word keaps corecting my spellnig

If I want to write teh instead of the, then let me write it! But it keeps *on* changing it to "the" no matter that I switch of all I can find in options.

Any idea how I can stop it interfering in my masterpiece?

Have you tried Tools, Auto-correct and look in the AutoFormat tab?

Tools - Options - Spelling & Grammar - Check Spelling as you type

Actually it's the AutoCorrect tab you need and remove teh from the long list of words.

Aha. Between the pair of you you've managed it...I've switched off that option altogether - I do use the spell check but I want to be in control of it Evil or Very Mad grrr.

Thanks chaps, you've saved the cost of a new keyboard, screen and possibly a number of personal injury claims.

Hurrah! Someone's found a use for me!

I find the AutoCorrect thingie essential when I am working, and "teh" is one of my most common typos. But I appreciate that it can be annoying. Rather than turning it off, though, and losing the benefit of the function altogether, you can just remove the offending spelling from the list of expressions that are automatically corrected.
Or indeed, you could just Ctrl-Z whenever a deliberate misspelling is corrected (don't use backspace).
Mrs Fiddlesticks

should we ask why you want to write Teh instead of The?
Bugs

You can ask, but then I would have to kill you, in a vain attempt to make myself look interesting.

Bizarre as it may seem, it's for a pointer on spell-checking Laughing

Irony can be pretty ironic at times.
