How many on a pallet?
Jamanda

It says 36.

We use these to store animal feedstuffs and dog food in, they are excellent as they are totally vermin proof. I think ours are the 50 litre ones though.

What was in them previously? I think we had one that previously stored chutney and it took a while to get the smell out.

I did wonder about asking Nick about deliveries of the odd one or two - come to that where on earth is Nick these days? Shocked
tahir

I was thinking of storing feed in there too, be handy if you could stick some kind of opener at the bottom.
Bebo

Look to be about the right size for a bit of home brewing as well.
Jamanda

Would they be OK under pressure?

I don't know if they run psychological evaluations on barrels

I guess that comes down to how much pressure?

Is there any discount for quantity? (ie full pallet)
Barrelman

Hi,

Lots of interesting questions.

The barrels are ok for storing just about anything as long as the weight does not exceed 45kg, and the contents are food-grade or compatible. So, no corrosive chemicals etc. Biodiesel would be fine Wink

Re: Pressure - l really wouldn't like to guess about home brewing applications.

Previous contents: Mango chutney, but the barrels are clean on the inside. The chutney gives a lovely, tangy aroma.

Sorry if l've left out any more questions.

My phone number is 07963 632 484 - l'm available for direct questions on this number.

By the way, l'm working on a courier deal for people outside the Midlands, l will keep you updated.

Quantity discounts:

If you're up for buying a hundred or so weekly, l could offer a discount off the unit price. No huge discounts, sorry, as l want to make enough money out of this to continue doing it.

The price is cheap as it is - shop around for brand new plastic barrels and then come back to this advert if you wish. You will be aghast at the today's prices - plastic barrels are intimately linked to the petroleum industry, of course.

Thank you all for your interest! Keep the questions coming, preferably to my mobile!
Jamanda

But if the questions come on here we can all learn the answers.
jema

Yes indeed, there is a potential market here as well as in effect a potential unpaid sales force of people who will tell others of your product.
But we have asked here, and probably won't be chasing you for the answers if you don't answer here.
Wombat

These make great feeders for Pheasants on any shoot.
Will work out what is required and get back to you.

In that case I'd suggest making individual barrels more expensive, because there isn't much incentive for anyone to buy more than they absolutely need right now for a specific job.

A spring feeder atachment (about £4) is all you need with three legs bolted on the sides.

Tahir's gaff, The Gower, Crete, Belfast, Madonna's opening night, and the Olympic handover party in Buck Palace. And that's just in the last 3 weeks.

Check THIS out then. Depending on what you want to do with the barrel they are cheaper (2 for £3.52 & delivery at £7.70) for 30L containers (but not the same type) & have a large barrell for not much more (238L for £5.88 & £7.70 del).

Richard

Hi,

That's fine. Keep the questions coming. I was just worried l might lose a customer through not answering a forum question in time. Whatever suits you best really Very Happy

I do welcome the questions, they are helping me plan a second edition of my advert.

Thanks for the heads-up. The "2 for £3.52" deal is for a different type of container. I have to say, the 238L containers are a great deal, and l welcome this other person's enterprise. However, different sizes have different uses / levels of use, don't they? I am aware of this other seller and l think he's got a nice enterprise going, just as l have.
jema

I am more interested in your barrels. I just need a delivery option.

Yes, it definitely needs to be done! I've already started work on revising the advert.

Hell yeh yours are a better barrel for most uses ( I would say not for fuel compared to the cheap ones). The 238L one looks a bit top heavy with a narrow base to me. Was considering them for water buts just dont want to risk it.

I think the £7.70 is the important price for the delivery of two barrels.

Hi just in case you miss the PM (l used the same heading as the preceding ones and new PMs aren't very distinct from old ones in the inbox), l've sent you a new invoice as l've just found a cheaper courier deal, hope you are even more pleased !

Perhaps you could share the price with us so we all want this good deal...

I am very interested
Barrelman

Hi, l've finished a revision of my advert to now include courier delivery. I just came on to check my messages, will be back in a while with what is a decent quote from a decent courier (whom l actually once worked for).

I will probably make a new thread from it, sorry for the repetition, but it seems the best way to put up a second (and definitive, unless l find an even better courier) edition of my advert.
Barrelman

Actually l'm sticking with this thread as everyone knows this thread and many people may have bookmarked it, the revised advert is now showing at Post #1

dpack has barrels, they're good & solid too

Hi, you can sell them to canoeists as buoyancy and water proof storage.

Sorry l thought that was a question, please ignore my reply if it still appears.

Yes, l most certainly can do that, and have done! The barrels are easily waterproofed, with a square of clingfilm or a carrier bag over the entrance, and the lid screwed on over it.
Rob R

Or a line of silicon around the threads, some of them have some pretty big gaps to fill if they get distorted at all (especially when you're carrying one full of water. Embarassed )
Barrelman

Hi, good point.

By the way, somebody once told me silicon isn't as good as neoprene cord.

However, to buy just enough neoprene cord for one barrel will cost as much as the barrel.

Anyway, l think the problem with silicon was that it's sticky and comparitively brittle compared to neoprene cord. I can't remember the particulars of the conversation l had with a gentleman who was brewing cider, but he liked his neoprene cord.

By the way, l've found some interesting links to do with renewable energy:

Youtube.co.uk --> type in "home made solar heater"

I'd like to try this but l've no idea how to get the heat into one's house. I dislike any form of DIY - so can anybody produce an idiot's guide starting from the finished solar power converter (because the youtube vids show you how to build that), and finishing with connecting it to the boiler or whatever it is you connect it to?

Feel free to move this concern to a new thread.
