A Visitor.

Yesterday in the heat of the day, we had a visitor to our garden pond. I don't know what species she was but it looks as though we should be getting a few more of them over the next few years.

nice and a sign that the pond is in good condition

if they lay eggs and you get nymphs be careful weeding etc some of them have quite a nasty nip

Mutant mosquito.

Nice photos BTW.

We had a similar dragonfly laying eggs in the pond pretty quickly after we made it and this last week we've seen some brutish looking creatures coming to the surface that we think may very well be dragonfly nymphs.

Don't know what sort they are, but strangely we get dragonflies in the woods although there is no permanent water. Think they come hunting.
