Acer/Windows XP update problemFor anyone else with an Acer PC :
This week, my Acer PC suddenly started getting stuck in a boot-up loop. It would start up and get to the desktop OK, but then decided to shutdown and boot up again, and again, and again......
When I phoned the local computer firm, they've had a few Acer owners with the same problem. It's a difficulty where the Acer code is not compatible with a recent Windows update.
Here's how to sort it :
Power up computer
Keep tapping F8 key till you get a black screen with various options, including Safe Mode
Use arrow keys to navigate to Safe Mode option; press Enter
It'll then ask you which system you run (Windows XP was mine); choose which one; press Enter
This takes you to a log-on screen
Log in as yourself [Enter]
The desktop comes up
Go to Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programmes
You need to Remove a programme called Acer Elock Management
Go through steps to uninstall it with the Wizard pop-up box
Shut down your PC.
You should then be able to start up as normal....
