Ad from ethical junction...Is this site still gettng ads from Ethical Junction? Is it just me or is it throwing up some quite bizarre ads at the moment?
Things like:
http://www.thefinchleyclinic.com/shop/
Some of the products there, like:
http://www.thefinchleyclinic.co.uk/nojavascript/products/ule/hopit_h.html
http://www.thefinchleyclinic.co.uk/nojavascript/products/ule/energy_t.html
I've previously been quite a fan of ethical junction, its thrown up a couple of slightly wobbly things for sale on some of the sites linked to, but if this is the kind of thing is has then I'm rapidly going off it.
Edit: Although since posting this, naturally I've not had the same ad appeared again. Sods law?

There are some technical issues we (in fact, They) are aware of. Don't panic.

We asked them to remove that one from the rotation (which they did) quite a while ago. They've just had some sort of server glitch though and presumably lost our settings or something.
Thanks for pointing it out, I'm sure that jema or Jamanda who mostly deal with EJ will be on to them about it.

Im never sure how the ads work here. I've read the explanation, and sometimes its really obvious that the ad is from a Downsizer, but other times its not clear at all.
If they are, I think it would help them sell stuff if the personal link was more pronounced.
As for those items you have shown, not sure how ethical it is to take money of folks to clean their homes subtle energies with a naff picture? (gives me worse vibes than one of Nick's avatars)

There should be a little bit of text below the ad saying 'ethical junction' or 'downsizer trader'. that seems to have been lost from the EJ ones in the computer excitement.
As I pointed out before the finchley clinic ads were barred from showing here but they seem to have lost our settings. Normal service will be resumed as soon as possible.

Well I won't be on to them till Monday, away from PC till then.

If it's a DS trader they will be on this page, which is linked to from the text under any DS trader's banner ad saying DS trader.

I see so some aren't DSers.
Do they just apply to the vetting committee for space in return for a bit of revenue?

Re: Ad from ethical junction...
I've emailed EJ asking them to remove that company again. They did it pretty quickly last time so hopefully it will stop appearing soon.
Thanks for pointing it out.

Cool, glad it'll disappear. I didn't realise the site was operating a filtered form of what EJ offers. I'm unsure now why EJ is a better option than the alternatives if that is the case.

Because it doesn't take half as much filtering. Filtering google ads until we were happy with them would be pretty much a full time job for someone.

Makes sense. How many dubious ones have come via EJ?

The one you posted about is the only one we've ever asked them to take down.

No. DS members can have a banner ad for free (provided that they're not selling battery chickens that have been fed on plutonium or something). The other banner ads come via a company called Ethical Junction who pay us for displaying them. the money from this pays for hosting and public liability insurance. If we get to a point where we're running a consistent surplus we'll put it into Kiva or something.

Indeed, it's the best model we could come up with for funding the site whilst supporting traders who are active on here.

Seems like a great strategy, I'm afraid I havent a clue regarding on line ads or how they work.
Does seem a bit like someone has slapped in a bypass at Ethical Junction though!
