Afternoon CepWernt home early from work and had a quick look in the woods as I am away this weekend. Within 10mins I'd found a nice little Cep, Deceivers (there were loads of these, big ones too) and a couple of little HedgeHog Mushrooms (Hydnum rufescens).
The Cep must have been less than a week old. There must be lots more out there and I expect to have reports of big weekend hauls when I get back

Totally maggot free. Has anyone noticed that when the stem is nibbled by slugs the Ceps, more often than not, don't have maggots. Or is it just me?

You are right Pete, the Ceps I found today had all been nibbled by slugs, but not a single maggot.

I've found loads of maggot Ceps in my time.
