Agaricus langei ?scaley wood shroom?

im 99% sure that is what it is but im always open to a second(3rd 4th etc)opinion as that is a good way to stay alive Laughing

what do you folk think?
Jamanda

I'd say that looks very like the one that I identified as the same, but it gave me an interesting intestinal tract for a day or two.

umm my books say edible and good ,im not committed yet as i was waiting to see if the cut edge changes colour Laughing
dpack

it hasnt gone pink or yellow but the edges are a bit brown and shriveled .

i think i might give this one a miss Confused

it does look and smell rather nice but im old and cautious

i will have a spore print off it before it goes ,that might help me get a definite id Wink
dpack

the spore print was a forlorn hope ,12 hrs no spores .

i recon it was too immature to drop spores even under a mug in a warm room .

Looks very much like Agaricus impudicus ....seems to be pretty common this year ...
dpack

the look is very similar re the cap but the stem of my one was quite thick.the location data fits with mine .

my one had a pleasant shroomy smell when fresh

the impudicus a possible candidate ,i will see if i can get a full grown one for a spore print

i assume the smell/taste in the online descriptions as a bit strong etc is about raw and that they are considered edible in italy might be related to the "nice in sauce" rather than "good in salads" principle
