Agrocybe cylindracea?

I've never found A cylindracea before, so was delighted to find huge numbers of shrooms on my first forage for a long time. Thought they were St Georges initially, but after a long look & the colour of the spores (see small shroom in the midlle of the photo below) figure they had to be A cylindracea - but I would be grateful if anyone could confirm please Very Happy . Found in clumps in the water meadows around my way, only a few yards from willow & poplar. Distinct smell, but could not identify it as "old wine casks" as it says in Phillips.

If it is A cylindracea, are they worth eating? If so anyone know any good ways to cook 'em? And do they dry or freeze ok? Thanks for the help thumbright .

Habitat is correct, and they look about right for it... But its hard to be 100% sure (even though I'm very familiar with this shroom, what with Cambridge having a few good spots for it) 'cos the pictures are rather small.

Dries extremely well.

Would like to see a better pic of top and bottom (including the stem), more close up, before saying for sure. But looks right from what I can see.

Can't comment from personal experience as I have never found these. But just to note that in 'Michael Jordan' it says odour is not distinctive!

Kind of woody, fungal, faintly aromatic like old boxes and wine.

im not known to this shroom but on the descriptive smell theme i thought "recently vimmed kitchen with bread rising "was pretty accurate on a different one

I think I can see the typical wrinkled cap from the pics. Certainly looks like them to me - I have always found them on woodchips where someone has cut down a tree.
