Alternative Fuel MercedesI thought this was interesting - that Mercedes claims that they will stop producing petroleum powered cars by 2015 and will start selling electric vehicles as part of their regular line up by 2010.
It certainly is ambitious - but is also very much what is needed.
I haven't seen them yet - but supposedly there are 100 electric smarts running around London - with the Met already using them to patrol the streets.

Interesting although they mean some of their cars will run on bio-fuels, which I expect will still heavily rely on fossil fuels, and will probably happily run on fossil fuels.
For a minute I did wonder if their AMG black division would design a car with it's own nuclear reactor...

Accidents rates will increase with electric cars as they're too quiet hear them. Dangerous things and should be speed limited preferably with a man walking in front waving a red flag or blowing a whistle.
