Another classic cycle facility...The Cycle Facility of the Month never lets us down. Athough this one is over on the other side of the pond, it still made me chuckle:

Although arguably better was Augusts Star Trek Cycle lanes, where cyclists are presumably meant to use some kind of transporter technology to hop from place to place:

(I'm also still most tickled by the entry for June this year).

Re: Another classic cycle facility...These are fun - and made me laugh - but actaullin their context i think they were probably an example of good practise

You usually see those big warnign signs where their are road works or someone is working on the lamps or kerb which would block the cycle lane
I am assuming here that some forward thinking person realised that BEFORE even starting to direct cyclists into the middle of the road with traffic cones - it would be very sensible to have a large sign warning traffic that cyclists might be moving our into their path.

lo that is fun - my guess is here the intention was to show clearly that cyclists needed to slow down and give way to cars coming out of driveways . - not sure how you could indicate to the cyclists the path was co9ntinuous without giving them the feeling they had right of way and didn't need to look out for cars coming out of hidden driveways .

If the bikes were on the road the cars coming out of the drives would have to give way.

I think that is true - but i can also see how bikes at speed (rather than slow moving pedestrians) might be more dangerous on the footpath closer to the walls that the road is and completely hidden from cars reversing out from their drive - young cyclists can easily forget or not be aware of that!
I'd probably choose to cycle on the road if i was there anyway!

Basically means that the cycle lane is useless; that they'd think that it would be worth having such a pointless facility is the essence of the humour

Don't councils get funding for every cycle lane they provide?
My favourite was someone's presumed olympic bid to hold the 6m cycle sprint event - they even had 3 seats (from a bus stop) with which to watch a tight finish,

Hey, don't knock it: we each had 2.8mm of cycle lane created for us last year.
