Any good?

I've just been given this by my brother, and actually, it looks great, in that it promises to be simple and idiot proof. It might actually push me into setting up a working website.

Has anyone come across this before? I'm aware it's just hosting, and a bunch of software that I could download, etc, but it's here, on my desk, in a box. Simple, eh?

I guess I'm asking if the space offered is a sensible amount, etc? 150megs. £2.49 per month after the first 12 months.

Think of one of those coffee machines that take special sachets Rolling Eyes

Arguably a better end product than with a standard kettle, but limited functionality, and demands a consumable?
jema

and locks you in to a certain consumable.
Nick

Which consumable does the web site lock you into?
jema

Was I reading it wrong, or isn't the hosting tied into the package?
Nick

Yeah, the hosting is with them for 12 months, as part of the package, then, renewable for £2.49 pcm afterwards.

What's good /bad about hosting? As it's paid for, the cost is irrelevant, and presumably, I could move it after a year? Support'd be an issue, and I don't know if they're any good.
jema

But if the package and the hosting are tied at the hip, you cannot move. So if the hosting is bad, or they put up the price...

Not impressed.

Looking at a couple of the sample sites they all look the same. £2.50 a month for 450MB is expensive - $6 can get you 10 GB.

Do you get webspace with your internet account?

I still recommend people to wordpress - Yes its blogging software - but its more than that - you can put together a simple web site quickly and easily (and its free open source)

AND you can get free hosting of the site wordpress.com & wordpress.org. images need slapping on flickr or similar.

I went with MRSite primarily because they allowed me to launch a very basic contact sheet online for the business in a matter of minutes. I never intended to keep that web design as I had my own ideas but it allowed me a month or so grace while I started the business and got my own web pages finished and uploaded. Now that I have my own pages I'm not tied to staying with them but I've had no problems so I'll probably be stay with them for now.
