Any old engine buffs on the board?I was given an old Stuart PX5C engine some time ago and I've recently got around to pulling it out of the shed to have a look at...
But I have not been able to find out much about it anywhere so far and I don't know where to start.
Normally I'd oil it up, throw some petrol at it and see if it will consider firing at all, but the one thing I have found out is that it is a two stroke, and I have no clues to what mix it needs to run.

Somewhere between 10:1 and 50:1...

50:1 with any modern, synthetic oil will be fine - it's not that the engines have changed so much, more that the oils have. My old Seagull was meant to drink 8:1 petrol:engine oil, but sucks down Stihl oil at 50:1 quite happily.

tis worth seeing if it turns before fueling it ,simple 2 strokes are easy to dismantle, clean and reassemble but if any parts are broken replacements might be available as many such bits were universal use or it might be a write off unless you get a part made.
if it has been stored for a long time it is worth removing the plug to see if the cylinder is dry, oily or rusted solid and checking the electrics are able to give a spark in the right place .
check it for lumps in the fuel lines etc ,a spider in the carb is no fun for either of you
