Anyone for pork? This is an appeal for a poor chilli-mustard-less Downsizer courier who is looking for an excuse to return to Aughton at the end of this week.
All you have to do, if you are somewhere in the vicinity of anywhere between here & Hereford, is take half a (large) Middle White porker off my hands at the rate of £120.

I haven't got the freezer-space at the moment. If he's prepared to deliver a bit at a time.....

I can deliver the pork to the Leeds/West Yorks area this Saturday as I'm already picking some lamb.
Catch me before 4pm today.

Ditto. I've even got stuff in the fridge which should by rights be in the freezer.

Maybe you could try sticking them together, they'd be more stable that way.

I'd love to but I've still got an awful lot of pork sat in my freezer plus I'm a little broke at the moment

Don't suppose you could take a detour across to the far reaches of West Wales could you?

Unfortunately Nick isn't coming now (it would have been today anyway if he was), and I would be able to offer delivery myself, if I had a car.
Retail ordering in smaller quantities is bound to make things easier- but at the moment I wouldn't like to say when that will be, as the planners still need to approve it all.

Pork OfferAn offer open to all downsizer members (including those with existing [lamb or pork] orders) buy one half get the other half price, so that's £180 for two half porkers. As there are just two halves left it's a first come first serve basis.
Update: Only one half left

On the basis of your mutton, Rob, I wish I needed some pork, but I'm taking a pig off on its final journey next week!
By the way, the small black pig has settled in well. She's not so small any more, either! Very vociferous though.

I wish I had a bigger freezer
how much space would I need to buy, for future reference?

Could Downsizers who live close to one another mayebchip in and buy a quarter each?
Does anyone ever go to/from the South coast (Bournemouth/Poole) to Robs?

They all found appreciative homes in the end, thanks for all your help Of course it is always best to get orders before sending them to slaughter, but needs must in some cases.

Halve of a large pig such as these fitted into roughly (just going on approximate measurements in my head) 3.75 cubic foot.

How many drawers in your average freezer is that? Or (in reletive terms) how much more in multiples of half a mutton? Only a guess will be fine, but I want to start buying in half pigs and doing sauage and bacon and the rest - Need to know how much freezer to buy in first!

About twice the size of half a mutton.

I usually get most of my half pig in a large drawer, about 75cm long by 35cm wide by 25cm high, but that's without a head and feet:D

After getting my livestock trailer stuck at the end of his lane *cough* I finally picked up half a porker and half a hogget from Rob on Saturday and when I'd managed to get it bagged and in the freezer after a 3 hour drive back - complete with a heifer in the trailer - it took up about three drawers
I'm going to be pigged out for months!
We had a shoulder of the hogget on Sunday and it was deliceous!

They were a couple of big lads, must get them to abattoir sooner

Hmmm - sounds doable. Althought the freezer'll need defrosting first!
