Anyone got a quid??OK here goes the confesion, I am a secret coin collector who collect british decimal and pre-decimal coins and this year for my Birthday i eventually got new albums and stuff to properly sort and store what i have, I have finished sorting it all and have found i am missing some decimal coins to compleat my runs. Just to start with I am looking for a couple of pound coins with dates 1998 and 1999, as far as i konw there is nothing special about these years and coins were minted in the same sort of quantitys as other years but i have looked through my pound jar and my brothers and my mates as well as the till at work and i cant spot them so i was wondering if any downsizers can come to my aid and to be honest if no one can find them i guess they were all hovered up or something.
I would much appreciate any help i can get and will of course pay P+P and the coin value.
P.S. I am not to worried about condition of the coins although the better the better if you know what i mean but i just want to compleat the sets at the moment.
Thanks

Oh no it's going to be like having one of those annoying songs in my head all day - I won't be able to take any change without checking the dates

Coming out of the closet, I have a vanity case of coins of various origin...not nearly so professional about it though, I think I just find the hope it might one day be worth millions appealing
Certainly will keep an eye out for you though, as Penny says won't be able to look at one of those dates for years now without thinking hmmm...

I'll keep my eyes peeled! I used to do the young collectors (many years ago you understand!) competitions where you had to collect coins from certain years. It gets slightly obsessive doesn't it?
But my goodness you feel like you've found a nugget of gold when you find the missing one in your change from the corner shop.
Good luck with your search

I'll keep my eye out for you too
OH's parents have bought both him and his sister Royal Mint annual sets every year since they were born, not the same as collecting yourself though! Don't think they's want to give up two of the coins somehow

Don't think it was me - but the considering the worn out state I'm in at the moment, I could have missed it (Been cuddling beautiful gun dogs all day )

Have you been to Crufts, Penny? Sorry if I've missed a thread there, been away for a few weeks
Watched some of it on telly tonight, there were (of course) some beautiful looking dogs there

Fee,
I checked all of my pound coins before putting them in the bank, plus those in the till - £176 in total!
I couldn't find any 1998 or 1999 coins at all
I think that if you do manage to find them, you should hang on to them as there don't seem to be many about!!
Perhaps they didn't mint any during these years, though?
Good luck with your search - I am still looking

Wahay (how do you spell wahay), got you a 50p from 1999 (TD has just been through the carpark money drawer, I raid all the birthday collections at work for him )
(Oh OK, I replace them with notes, just trying to pretend to be a bit more dangerous than I really am)
