Strawberry 'seed' actually have a very thin coating, the seed and coating being an achene (do I remember that correctly?) so the seed is not really on the outside.

Strawberries are one of the most interesting vegetables to classify, as they are pseudocarps - not really a fruit - actually a swollen receptacle (the bit on a composite flower inflorescence that all of the florets are attached to, like the fleshy bit at the back of a sunflower head, where the seeds are attached) which holds the individual fruits, which are achenes as cab said.
as for other outwardly seedy characters, I can't think of any off the top of my head...

Buttercup springs to mind, and that wild plant that looks like strawberry but has disappointing fruit, name of which escapes me at the moment. Botany lessons were 15 years ago now, so I'm struggling to name more.
