Are farts the new oil?http://www.newscientist.com/article/mg20227141.100-ice-on-fire-the-next-fossil-fuel.html?full=true
Could trapped methane save us? Or speed up The End Of The World?
Interesting ideas in there. Might buy us another hundred years, or so.

And it's a way to relase all those greenhouse gases that were trapped in and under the permafrost and so accelerate pollution and climate change!

You've not read the article then? One of the latest extraction techniques is to pump CO2 under the ice, which gets stored preferentially to the methane. So, it can provide energy AND decrease atmospheric CO2. Assuming it doesn't cause a methane burp and that might smell Quite A Bit.

There's a lot of farts stored in the deeper parts of the world's oceans, too - although this is in the form of hydrates rather than clathrates. Once the technology to convert methane into liquid form on a boat is perfected (we're getting there), expect a rush to exploit these as well.

Are they Gervase's fault, too?
