Bad reaction to Shaggy Ink Caps?Jamanda has had to come home from work because she is poorly. Probably just a bug, but we did have some shaggy ink caps with dinner. I'm fine, but are they one of the shrooms that some people have a problem with?

Re: Bad reaction to Shaggy Ink Caps?Not normally, but there is no such thing as a foodstuff that has no risk of bad reactions. As a forager you're eating dozens (even hundreds) of species that others simply never touch and, sooner or later, it ain't unlikely you'll find something you can't stomach.
Shaggy ink caps are sometimes referred to as being incompatible with alcohol, but more correctly that risk is with the common ink cap, which really doesn't mix with alcohol (and will make you violently ill).
The only thing that is sometimes mistaken for a shakky ink cap is the magpie ink cap, which may make you ill. Oughtn't be a problem for someone as clued up as Jamanda though.

She only had a tiny bit the previous time, last night we had a decent portion each.

Maybe she just isn't getting on with them, or maybe some were turning just a smidgin pink or brown in the gills?
Keep an eye on her, and pass on some best wishes from here for her. Oughtn't be serious, but you never really know when someone takes a bit ill after eating something.

Well I'm still alive. I was fine until 1/2 way though 2nd lesson when I had to rush into the prep room and be ill. Damn shame, because I actually having a very good lesson with a difficult group. Feel a bit better now.

all mushrooms can have reaction and maybe it was something else there is a bug flying round my end of the world makes you feel just the same

That was my first thought too but I thought the alcohol/ink cap sickness was common to all ink caps.
