ball winder for woolDoes anyone have a ballwinder for wool which they no longer need?
Happy to swap/barter/whatever.
I thought I'd try here before I post on freecycle.

I'm afraid I use mine all the time N but I'll keep my eye out for you. I was just wondering if we should have some kind of barter/wanted section at the dropped spindle?

somewhere I'm sure I've seen 'make your own' instructions for a ballwinder. I'll go and have a rummage, I need one too!

for starters if you have lego in the house, but I've seen a more 'wood and screws' type one too somewhere, off to look again

i should use my textile skills ,when i was very small i learnt to wind a lemon shaped ball ,with a spiral (non kink)form by hand off chair legs or hands
i quite like textiles
i may have been about 4 when i got it so there is plenty of cheap child labour to be had

Blast, I thought you were offering one, I want one too!
They come up on ebay every so often, but tend to go for around 15 quid. I don't want one that much, just yet.

I want to try the loo roll on the mixer version, but our mixer isnt the right shape I'm sure we could conjur one up.
Actually I do have an antique one,its just a handle on a wheel that rotates a spindle, clamps to the table, but you have to move the yarn up and down manually to get the correct shape, and I don't seem to have enough hands to get it right and wind at the same time.
