Banner for Shrops SmallholdersI've been trying to do a banner for Paddington Bear (Shropshire Smallholders Association) for weeks now, just haven't had enough clear time to do it. Anyone fancy a go?
We need a 468x60 banner for the forum plus something that can be posted in the "Traders" section of the home page.
Tay, Fee, anyone?

I would offer, but I'm frankly pants at graphics

He's not you know - have you seen the website in his sig? Readable and attractive... (I know, I don't know anything about these things, except that I would be the one using it.)

True (nice piture of Conwy Castle there - spend many a time running round like a lune there), but that's just taking pictures and sticing them in different places. Making you're own picture is an art in itself.

I know I know that's why I had the instinct to I put in my disclaimer

That castle pic isn't mine - it's via online agency Fotolia, and credited at http://www.conwyslate.co.uk/?id=about.

I shall probably be running around Conwy like a loon in a few months...

We need to see some...

Hows this for a start?

like the typeface, and the subtle text colours.
Full stop rather than comma after 'trips', otherwise it would have to be 'experience-sharing....' to make that a noun like the others.
any ideas for graphics or pix yet ?
prefer the first non-bold text version

I'm thinking either a shrops scenic or maybe something leafy

Me too

No: the bolder one has more weight. More reliable, substantial, dependable... all those things.

Yes, the bolder one has more weight, but the lighter one looks more refined. Hmm, tricky one.
Loads of leafy things in Corel's image sprayer thingy

No, that's hideous! Background far too distracting.

No point beating around the leaf.

I agree with you, Andrew: when I saw it I went "aaagh!". Very sidtracting, but I like the lettering. A muted scenic image might make a goo background. Wenlock Edge? Stiperstones? The Wrekin? Lots of lovely views in Shropshire.

Much nicer. If you could darken the blue sky slightly it would be even better.
There seems to be some mysterious blotches on the sky - what are they?

I find the white a bit difficult to read over the blue, but then a carker colour would be difficult over the green

No idea, crap at that sort of stuff, can I let you do a version?

Or perhaps the writing could be lowered a bit so its got the green behind all of it - writing stands out well against the green but not against the light blue sky.

Hmmmm the contrast is better but there seems to be "too much" blue sky now....

Could there be a colon or full stop after "trips"? Otherwise, smashing.

Got that dodgy sky again.

Yes

Like the background pic, but find the Shropshire Smallholders white text hard to read, no matter where it goes. Could you move the words up so the top line is in the blue sky, and make them a mid-dark green ? Text below is fine in white.
|
Barefoot Andrew
|
Sky looks a bit unnatural if it's any darker... well in my unskilled hands it does anyway
Tried to edit the text to insert a colon, but my ancient version of Corel doesn't recognise the text object as editable "text" - just an object
Must switch over to using the Gimp one day perhaps...

All we need now is for Mel to like it. Come in Mel......
Once we get a yes we've got to do an ad in Traders too....

Text looks great, I was thinking of sheep somewhere but the scenic bit looks the biz. Does every banner receive this much pre-production interest?

Speaking of which this is the ad we need to put in Traders, obviously we need it to fit in with the banner now....
I've had to remove the photos, the file was too big

Like the banner and the ad. Makes me think I should be joining, but know I'd seldom (if ever) get to meetings: too far!

Haven't got around to looking at the doc... up to eyeballs in PHP and MySQL this afternoon...

Could the font and size of "Shropshire Smallholders Group" be made the same as in the banner and this would then fit wouldn't it?

The webpage is up and running:

or click on the banner

The banner isn't clickable at the moment - what's the URL Paddington Bear?
