Banning incandescent light bulbsI know this was suggested but are all incandescents going to be phased out? (I was reminded this morning that I have one light in the house that needs to be an incandescent.)

Why?
All ours are low energy except the fridge & cooker bulbs & they could go LED i guess.

The low energy light bulbs are very bad for some epileptics and those who suffer with some forms of migraine - in exactly the same way as the large strip lights affect them.

And they take more energy to produce each one. And are toxic if broken. How many people just pop them in the wheely bin instead of taking them to the council refuge centre?

We've got a bit of a thing about "Tiffany" style lamps and find that low energy bulbs just don't fit - even the "micro" ones have overly bulbous (pardon the pun) bases to accommodate the integral choke/starter mechanisms. Ok, not a really good reason for using less efficient incandescent bulbs, but when we’ve spent in excess of £500 over the years on lamps that we love we don’t really want to go about replacing them all for something just to fit the bulb… I can see a market developing for obscure little shops selling “old style” light bulbs for such cases if the “ban” goes ahead – these are the guys currently selling vacuum bags for 40 year old models of Hover and the like.
