Barn full of natural Knitting and Embroidery stuff for saleI've written 26 Craft Books and when I moved to France the lorry
containing my worldly chattels was bigger than my house. At least half of it was full of my craft materials
My kids say that if I don't shift this stuff before I die they'll kill me.
This Sunday I am having a barn sale but for those of you who don't happen to live in the Dordogne but are searching for mohairs, pure wools, embroidery/needlepoint threads and canvases, or books on particular crafts, do let me know what you need and I will happily sell it to you.

Errr...I just happen to have written a tome on the subject called 'The Readers Digest Complete Book of Embroidery'
I could sell you a signed copy for a tenner but the postage to the UK would be £7.00 which would probably make it too expensive?
...or I have a sweet little book called 'Good Housekeeping Embroidery' which has lots of stitch and technique info which you could have for £3.00 + £2.50 p&p?

With the very best intentions I just walked into my book room thinking 'Ah yes, I'll tell them what I got'...Then I realised that I have around 2,000 of them....mainly on knitting, embroidery but lots of other stuff too so I'd be here all day. Probably best if I just feed them onto ebay bit by bit.

Oh dear that sounds like a bigger addiction than mine for cookery books - however I suppose you do have an excuse being a writer - I just like looking at them but then when I want a recipe for something I invariably end up looking on t'internet as well
Watcha got on Crochet ? Oi likes crochet

If anything catches the eye let me know. The booklets have faded covers but everything is in good condition internally. Would have to work out postage depending on what you want. The more books you buy the cheaper they will be
Vogue Dictionary of Crochet Stitches smallish book
does what it says on the cover.
Learn to Crochet -Coats 1963 - 23 page booklet
Classic 'how to'
Crochet Designs and Fashion Access (reprinted from Victorian and Edwardian sources) booklet 32 pages
Knitting and Crochet Guild -
Collars, trims and even a shoe !
Crochet Designs of Anne Orr (more historic stuff) 45 page booklet
Dover books variety of stuff
Filet Crochet Mrs. F. W. Kettelle 47 page softback
New Design in Crochet - Hardback 60's American Book
Clinton D Mackenzie (good stitch diagrams but patterns for lots of
strange hanging objects and raffia thingees).
The Crochet Sweater Book, Hardback, Sylvia Cosh
Good shapes lots of mixed yarns
The Family Crochet Book, Hardback 60s tome with little lace
dresses and ponchos and stuff.

We also move to La Belle France in 8 weeks - and also have to downsize - so some furniture etc now has yellow stickies on mentioning e-bay. BUT I'm taking all of my 4500 books because they're like very dear friends - I've cookery / craft books going back to when I was about 10 + a whole load of SF books that are probably out of print.
Removal man coming round tomorrow - I've told him how many we have... but they never believe me till they see.
Do you have anything on soap making & could you hold it til the end of January / beginning of Feb...... haven't tried this yet, but plan to do so

You'll be sorry (about taking the books not about moving to France) What part of here will you be?
I certainly have a few on soapmaking (especially 'The Handmade Soap Book' which I wrote ) and you must come on one of my soapmaking courses here if you have never tried it.
Make contact when you are here.

I'll check what count canvas I have tomorrow I think its quite a high count. I have virtually every Anchor Tapestry Wool £5 for a dozen
give me a rough idea of colour schemes that you want and I will put them in packs. Ditto DMC and Anchor stranded cottons, Also have crewel wools from various suppliers. Could do the same thing with them?

Let me think about it - I've already got things stacked waiting to be done. I'll look for some inspiration. Do you have anything special for getting a design off paper and onto a canvas?

What a small world!!!!
Hello Melinda, Reg's worse half here. (Soap factory and your ex-home alterations)
Soon as I saw the soap book you wrote mentioned the penny dropped who you are.
Sarah "Bluewell" rang up the other day had a long natter about the world and its wife general catch up chat.
They said you had moved to France, they would have liked to also, but couldn't find suitable with all the canine friends.
I hope you are getting along well in your new home, much the same this neck of the woods and weather been Novembery as usual so you're not missing out on anything exciting
We send you greetings and best wishes for the future.

Hi Sally,
Didn't realise you were in Wales. Seem to be a lot of Welsh guys on this list.

Not really. You can scan a design into your puter and print it on transfer paper. Then iron it on to a canvas. Or make yourself a lightbox. Another way to do it is with an overhead projector. (they sell them for doing designs on cakes). Outline your image with felt tips while the photo is projected.

Hi there, Yes, its a VERY small world I was asking about Reg when Dave was over for a break a few weeks ago. Is he still working on gardens?

Semi Retired now but clients will not let him completely. Also once they know what he used to do they keep persuading him to help them out. At the moment he is renovating a house in Ferryside a colleague bought, so much for lighter work and "I am definitely sticking to gardens ONLY!!"
It'll keep him occupied until about March.
He asked to pass a message on .. "If you need a new office building when you have emptied your barn just shout .."
Kindest Wishes again
