Bee Books..there are so many of them. Can anyone recommend a beginners book that actually is helpful? What has everyone else found useful, in the early years??
Thanks

If you're going to buy only one, I'd recommend Ted Hooper's 'Guide to Bees and Honey' - despite the fact that he is a bit fascist in his dislike of WBC hives, it's got pretty much everything you need in there and we found it very easy to understand.

The other one that is recommended because Ted Hooper's is a bit out of date now is Clive De Bruyn's book - Practical Beekeeping which is an excellent book to compliment Ted Hooper's classic book

Also I would heartily recommend taking out a subscription to Beecraft - the Journal of the BBKA - It always has the most upto date information in it and also has a beginners diary - which I find really useful

I think armed with those - you have everything you need to begin beekeeping however it won't be long before your get interested in other stuff - I went to a Beekeeping convention this weekend and I've come home with a list of books that is nearly as long as my arm and all look like fascinating reading especially a couple on pollen
