Beek'ing examsI'd love to do the written BBKA exams. I'm thinking about starting them soon-ish. Anyone else doing them (sure at least one of you is... just can't remember who!).
I just want to do them for interest but are there any other benefits to doing them? Apart from being a honey show judge!

I did a BBKA course but can't remember sitting an exam.
Most of what I've learnt comes from books, word of mouth from more experienced beeks & through my own succeses & mistakes.

I think the exams are a great idea! I'm tempted to do some next year. even if the bees don't always follow the theory, the more you know the easier it should be (and I need every bit of help i can get!)

I'm pretty tempted actually, though mine would be through the SBA. Might be trying to run before I can walk....

Nah... you'll be fine! I am going to talk to someone about it at the next local meet. In for a penny - in for a pound!

I'm planning on starting the written ones next year - I've got the basic beekeeping qualification and want to do the others

I thought about doing the SBA exams as I'd enjoy the focussed learning, but it did occur to me that it might be a good idea in case the regulations are tightened up in future. If we go to a compulsory register, it would then be easy enough to insist that all beekeepers must have basic training and I'd prefer to be ahead of the game.
