Don't do yourself down - getting that stuff to go on so evenly is no mean feat

Very pretty - quite Christmasy looking in those colours.

Indeed, I could imagine it filled with something.
Well done Vanessa!

Thanks
I'm glad it looks Christmassy ... the idea is to do 2-per-couple for Christmas presents.
You're right about the colours ... they're a nightmare to work with! I thought they'd just flow on nicely, but no! Not helped by some of my colours being gloopy (all new, from the same pack ) ... still, I've just done another one with a "textured" finish to one colour ... doesn't look too bad, and it was the ONLY way I could get the colour onto the glass at all.

I think that the way you have layered the triangles helps it flow.

Oh......that looks beautiful, you must have a good steady hand to get it so neat.

what are you using to paint? we used to sell Pebeo and just as we gave you the shop they bought out Vitrial 160 which was a bake on glass paint that was dish washer proof onced baked.
The glass looks good from the pic, have you thought about putting nightlites in there, they sometimes look really good

Ooooh, I've got a leaflet for Pebeo Vitrail ... nothing on there about dishwasher proofing by "firing" in the oven.
The ones I've used are by Lefranc & Bourgeois ... can be baked to increase resistance, but nothing said about dishwashers on there either.

the standard Vitrail cannot be fired, its only the vitrial 160
quick google later
http://www.lainesworld.co.uk/pebeo/vitrea160/index.htm
the standard solvent based ones cannot be heat treated its only the water based ones, you can get porcelaine 150 as well that can be used on glass but they are opaque, ther vitrial 160 and porciline 150 are pretty much interchangerble for more depth and colours both on glass and porceline.

Excellent, thanks
I've got one pot of standard Vitrail, as it was a colour not in the pack of the other stuff ... and it goes on better than the other make. So, guess who's now going to be looking for the water-based Vitrail?

Wobbles make it unique and of course worth far more

Blast, me too. I've got a whole load of coffee jars that would make lovely night-light holders, if I painted them. I suspect I won't be as good at it as you are though. I'm not very artistic.

have you stil got an old turntable record player??
if you have turn the jars upside down adnd place in the very middle, switch it on and make sure it is in the center then load your brush, start at the top (it will be the base of the jar) and move towards the turntable, when you have finished get a second brush and do a different colour, with practice you can get perfect spirals and of course bands are easy as well, the slower the speed the easier it is though

My god, what a brilliant idea! At last, a use for the old wheels of steel himself refuses to throw away, which drive me nuts in the loft. That'll teach him.
All you have to do now, Mr Pilsbury, is find a use for the five boxes of old records he won't let me junk, either!

That's an idea. Maybe I should paint the walls, first. I'll dig out the record player next time it rains. I can feel a list of winter projects coming on.
