Beer of Despair

I wish I could share the homebrew I'm enjoying right now, with all of you. It's just starting to mature now, and we started it months and months ago.

Why beer of despair? Well my housemate got his hands on "super high-gravity" yeast (claims to be able to tolerate 25% A.B.V.) and decided to more than double the recipe's call for barley malt extract. Add the many different varieties of hops he threw in, and the frozen raspberries and peaches he threw in, and you get a beer that doesn't stop bubbling away in its fermenter for 4 months!

Anyhoo.... it's drinkable now, and wow! Shocked Very Happy Cool drunken

We insist. Oh don't forget the barrel. If you can't make it just send the barrel.

Did you make it through the night, though? Laughing

A couple of those, and a rye beer that I made, later and I was all set for the show I went to go see last night. We're thinking it has maybe achieved a 7-9% range.

I drank 3 pints of OldRosie (7.4%) and 2 pints of Cheeky Pheasant (4.6%) last Thursday, fine in the morning, cycled to work. Not young either, not any more Crying or Very sad

Edit: Those are UK pints not those titchy US ones (568 ml as opposed to 473ml)

for me, a hangover is entirely dependent on two things. Tobacco and water. If I decide to join friends in a cigarette or at a hookah I have a much higher chance of getting a hangover (I'm not a smoker). And of course a lot of water with Emergen-C before bed works miracles.
