Best Bee Plants

I've had a bit of a search but I can't really find anything specific.

Although I haven't got bees (I wish I did) I'm interested in providing more plants in the allotment next year to attract and keep bees/bumbles around as well as other insects.

This year I've had comfrey, cornflowers and a hyssop bush that have all been very attractive to the bees. Marjoram has been quite good and is quite attractive to brown butterflies and skippers and I've had a bank of marigolds that has been a mass of hoverflies for most of the summer. I put in a lemon balm that is supposed to be attractive to bees but they didn't seem that interested this year for some reason.

Anybody got any suggestions for some additions for next year?

Thanks, that's great. I had an idea I'd seen something about it recently but my search for 'Bee Plants' didn't seem to find it for some reason, unless I just didn't look hard enough. Cheers for pointing me in the right direction.

The search function is somewhat eccentric Laughing

I can send you some honeywort seeds if you'd like... http://www.bbc.co.uk/gardening/plants/plant_finder/plant_pages/4247.shtml mine are still flowering and attracting bees.

PM your address if you'd like some.

So glad I'm not the only one who thinks that! Laughing I though it was just me being a dunce.

Those blasted Himalayan Balsam things are supposed to be brilliant for bees and the honey from those is meant to be great. I'm guessing it might be illegal (not to mention ill advised) to plant any though, pretty though they are.
