Binoculars

We fancy replacing our pocket binoculars with something more effective but within the "if we fall in a rockpool while trying to work out if it's a seal or a piece of polystyrene we won't spend a year regretting it" kind of budget.

Oddly enough Amazon doesn't seem to offer this as a category. To me this means spending no more than say £60. Give or take, preferably take, £10. Any thoughts on what features/brands to look for or avoid?

What do you mean by 'pocket binoculars', and is £60 price new ?

I have hardly-used binoculars I don't really need (other than to check out vehicles and people, and the hares). Wouldn't mind selling. Can look to see what they are tomorrow.

Have a look round the local markets they sometimes have them ( I got a pair at Hatherleigh market a couple of years ago that would easily fit your kind of budget )

We've got a pair of these. They seem pretty decent to me and will survive being dropped into rockpools. Possibly.

We're not in a rush, and will probably buy new just because it's less complicated. I'm really looking for things to look out for/avoid - for example we considered these but thought that the zoom thing was probably much more fancy than we need and that these would probably be better value. But it's quite difficult to compare features when you don't (well, I don't) know what to look for.
