Bit o help required

I am quite IT illiterate, and have been having problems with GIF`s and emoticons not moving and I think it is a javascript problem, can anyone give me any pointers on how to find and enable it ??

Many thanks in advance for relevant replies thumbleft

which browser an d what version? javascript will be in preferences / options but can also be blocked by security stuff.

give us an example of something that doesnt work?

I have used and ditched IE6 to see if it was that which was at fault and went to Mozilla FF(most recent version) and it`s the same. I see Gif`s but they don`t move, although those in my windows folders do !
I don`t see all the adverts I used to in headers on certain sites.
I have checked in Tools>Options>Content and all the boxes are checked, I have switched off firewall(EZArmor) and switched on windows firewall(also have W-Defender) I have deleted cookies, disk clean-up, scanned for viruses/spy/malware, cleaned up and repaired registry using uniblue registry booster and am still non the wiser.

Another thing that is slowly getting worse is windows, I can`t back up my photos(2.7Gb+) to disc(DVDRW) as there is always a problem as with copying music to disc with windows !

Twisted NO, circle YES. Glad you put up an avatar, some work some don`t ??

TAHIR, I have Windows XP, the problems are either it won`t copy and freezes, says the disc is unsuitable or cannot be written on

animated gifs should display fine - But some firewall/securtiy software stops them - mainly becasue so many are used for adverts on the web.

So I would satrt with options in W Defender - that isnt a package I know.

The backup issue - what are you using to backup ? software? or just windows?
KILLITnGRILLIT

W Defender = Windows defender

I am just trying to back up and store all my photos and some of my music elsewhere so I have less cluttering my computer.
MarkS

how about twisted as an avatar then ?

Twisted Evil or
KILLITnGRILLIT

Nope, none of the above !

Thanks for all the help though !

I have to think that its some security or anti-spam software thats doing it. I would have a look through the options in W-defender and your anti-virus stuff for anything to do with filters or image blocks.

You can always stop a moving image by pressing escape but I'm not sure how you restart them - possibly need to clear a cache somewhere.
try shift F5 or CTL F5 and see if that brings anything back to life.

I'd be more concerned about the backups.

What software are you using to do the backup ? Nero? just dragging them in windows?

Does it work if you do smaller batches rather than the whole thing at once?

Any particular files that it fails on ?

You must set the ad_network_ads_377.txt file to be writable (check file name as well).
