Blackberry CurveUsual stuff, GPS, email, browser, plus you can make phone calls on it. Now surplus to requirements, with computer-charger lead and leather clip case.

Do you need to be on a special tariff thingy for it? Or can you just transfer your sim it to it?

Not sure. You can certainly transfer your sim and use it as an address book, calendar, phone, camera, gps etc, and synch it with your PC, but I think it will do email just by paying for data transfer without having a special tariff.

If only they were actually better than the soft fruit as telephones. Hate them.

It does what it does well enough, I just find that I don't actually need to answer emails on the go, and it's not really designed to cope with the sort of life I live.
I've replaced it with one of those IP57 rubber armoured jobs that I can carry about with me in the wind and the rain and the cold, cold snow.

I'd like to thank Brownbear for his cooperation in a rather long saga of getting all this sorted.
But finally I do have a working Blackberry on my old virgin number and contract which simply means on days I use the net I pay the grand sum of 30p.
This is absolutely ideal for me, and means that I can quickly check the status of my servers from anywhere without lugging the notebook around, and without having the sort of £30 a month iphone contract that would be totally OTT for my needs

And I now have a waterproof and wind-proof (no insane crackling in a breze) Samsung phone that works when I'm out doing stuff in the middle of nowhere.

which phone is it BB? those kinda features sounds like the type I could do with. I need one that bounces on wet concrete etc with no damage.
