Blackberry royaleGrab a few handfulls of blackberries, wash and put in a pan with a few tablespoons of sugar (the water still on them will be enough so don't add any)
Heat gently for a few minutes to dissolve the sugar and allow the blackberries to soften and release their juice. taste and stop heating when you have a sweet syrup that is full of blackberry flavour.
leave to cool and then pour a good slosh of the juice into a wine glass, add some blackberries then top up with sparkling wine.
Don't forget the spoon to eat the alcohol infused blackberries afterwards, lovely.

Sounds delicious but can I correct the spelling mistake in your title please?
There are not enough ripe around here yet. Are you already picking over there then? Think they are likely to rot on the bushes here as well it is that wet.

Which spelling mistake?
EDIT: picking the early ones so it's small portion crumbles/fools etc. rather than jam making quantities

I picked enough yesterday to make a blackberry and apple pie---but I had to look hard and they aren't great

I got a few nice big fat juicy ones for a crumble the other day. Could have got many more. I'm hoping to get some more serious picking done soon.

I'd argue that Royale should be capitalised, but the e is correct in the context . Or was it some other, now disappeared, e to which you refer?
P.S. Great sounding recipe... Don't suppose it'll be as nice with boring old fizzy eau though .

Yeah, the e should be there. Otherwise it's just roil as pose to royall

Like Don Gelato's classy icecream shack on the pier? Nothing royale about that

Should someone write to the Academie Francaise and get them to change the official spelling?

The very one and others all along the Welsh coast.

What's it official for? And we aren't in France. Is it an official dish not a Jonnyboy Special then?
