Book trading circle?Does anyone fancy setting up an informal kind of book-trading circle? I wondered if everyone interested maintained a list of books they had on offer and if someone wanted one, they posted it out to them. And when it was finished with, it got added to the next person's list?
Something like that, anyway.
Jus' wonderin' ...

Sounds like an excellent idea.
I think there's already a few bookcrossers on downsizer. It's a great way to record your thoughts & see what other people thought. Could you somehow use the bookcrossing system to keep track of the books?

Yeah, but you know you'd have to return mine. Or I'd fine you.

I have you know I have a lending book, which keeps a record of all my books lent. I only just stopped short of a ticket system (the old fashioned ones where you're ticket is a little cardboard thing that book ticket slots into)
All of my books are arranged by catergory, and then alphabetically by author within that catergory. Himself's are arranged alphabetically by author.
Occasionally, people are brave enough to borrow. If they don't return the fine is one bottle of wine a month (the are usually distant) although I rarely send stroppy letters!

WW, you worry me sometimes
I may have a genuine card-catalogue cabinet spare soon - as used in the days when books were catalogued in little cards then filed by author and by title. I'll let you know
You need to move into the 21st century, take out a subscription for Library Thing http://libarything.com/ and buy yourself a scanner to scan by barcode

I too have a lending book but only for my work related books/scripts/plays etc and only because students are notoriously bad for returning anything. Having said that I do like my books back, eventually.
