Bottling tomato - top tips?

Having stuffed the freezer full of all sorts of tomato dishes, pastes, etc. My OH has banned me from freezing a single one until next year:cry:
So with lots more still on the plants I am going to try to make sauces and bottle them.
My plan is to make the sauces, put them hot into kilner jars,
then sit the filled jars (with lids off) in a big pan of boiling water (on a trivet) and boil for a few minutes before putting the lids on.
Will this work and how long might they keep (in a dark cupboard)?

Yes, should work and they should keep some months or a year. I usually use a sugar/preserving thermometer to check temp etc. Though I guess if bottling a cooked sauce then it may be less crucial how long you keep it at boiling temp for. I have also bottled raw, peeled tomatoes just in their own juice, which works well, but you do need to make sure you give them the right amount of time at the right temp.
