Build your own concrete/fire brick stove query

Seem to remember a thread within the last year on building your own heating stove, from fire bricks or concrete blocks.
The principal was a sort of wood fired storage heater.

Can't remember what it was called, search didn't bring it up (or I'm being daft) anyone remember the thread and can point me to it?

Re: Build your own concrete/fire brick stove query

You might be referring to a rocket stove.

Have a search for "masonry stove" or "mass stove", that comes up with some threads you might be thinking of, they also seem to have various other names, ceramic stove, Hungarian stove etc.

Masonry stove, that's the one. Thanks everyone.

Now plotting how to build it with a fire brick fire box instead of buying a metal one. Also how to make it a multi-purpose firebox for wood, charcoal and coal for years when we don't find/grow enough wood.

Also how to put hot water pipes in it in such a way as can be easily removed and replaced when repairs needed. Just for a top up in mid-winter for the tank. (Top up for the solar hot water panels that are also in our plans - hopefully trials next year.)

It will be a few years down the line (hopefully) before the cast iron multi-fuel stove dies. Done six years service so far every winter, but won't last for ever. For a build your own project masonry stove project we need to be ready to roll as soon as the cast iron stove dies.
