I'm happy to find out that they're still there!
When they're ripening, if you find yourself anywhere near Low Fell, there used to be some cracking pears in Chowdene. And now I come to think if it, it used to be about now that I'd be hunting out gooseberries in the same dene.

Hi cab i went to the area you mentioned but the only things we found was idiots with high powered air rifles who did not care where they fired their guns ...so i phoned the police and left...Matty.

Bloody hell! That makes me very sad, I never came across anyone with air rifles there 
Hopefully Plod will sort that out and make it a safer foraging ground for you
